Geography of Tamenglong:Tamenglong district occupies an area of 4391 sq kms. It is located on the western boundary of the state of Manipur. The district area comprises of hill ranges and narrow valleys among the hills. The land of this district is said to have been formed due to organic movement in the Cretaceous and Eocene period. The district is located at an average altitude of 1260 meters above sea level.
Tamenglong Climate:The average temperature recorded in Tamenglong varies from 31° C in summers and 4° C in winters. The average relative humidity recorded is a maximum of 92 and a minimum of 72. The district receives an average rainfall of 3135 mm every year. The major rivers flowing through Tamenglong are Iyei, Irang, Barak and Makru.

The district has a population density of 32 inhabitants per sq km. the literacy rate is 70.4% and the sex ratio is 953 females for every 1000 males.
